PRESS RELEASE

Two coaches carrying 140 campaigners from East Cheshire, Newcastle under Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent, Leek, Stone, Stafford, Rugeley and Lichfield were among the one million people estimated to have taken part in the People’s Vote “Together For the Final Say” march through central London on Saturday. Both coaches were funded by Peter Coates the Chairman and Owner of Stoke City Football Club. Many others made their way to the march by train or travelled independently. Supporters boarding a train at Stoke-on-Trent were welcomed by a round of applause.

Protestors travelled from all over the UK to take part in the march, in a fleet of 172 organised coaches. Many thousands of others travelled by train. And hundreds of Britons living in other European countries and across the world flew back to the UK to demonstrate their support for a People’s Vote.

Many of those taking part were from areas of the UK which had voted leave in the 2016 Referendum, including: Stoke on Trent, Lincolnshire, Derby, Darlington and the Welsh Valleys.

People travelling from Inverness in Scotland has the longest journey (554 miles) and the earliest start – travelling overnight to get to London in time. Coaches also brought people from Penzance in Cornwall.

Mike Ottewell, Chair of Staffs 4 Europe said:

“On Saturday, people from Newcastle, Stoke on Trent, the Moorlands as well as Stafford and Lichfield and all across the UK headed to London to demand our voices are heard.”

“Boris Johnson needs to hear loud and clear he must seek our consent before he inflicts his damaging Brexit on our country.”

Since the march, hundreds of thousands of people have already signed a letter to the powerful as part of a new campaign, demanding that the people are given the final say on Brexit in a referendum.

The letter will be delivered before the final Brexit deadline of October 31 st to Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament, as well as the European Parliament to other European Heads of Government.
